卡迪夫大学创办于1883年，世界排名在115-125左右，在2014年的REF中排名全英第五，科研经费充足，科研水平非常之高。卡迪夫也是罗素大学集团的成员之一，并且是威尔士地区的唯一一所进入罗素大学集团的大学。

　　2015年，TIMES计算机科学专业排名，卡大排在全英32位。

　　卡迪夫大学计算机专业研究生课程设置

　　卡大计算机信息科学学院下设了以下几门计算机科学的相关专业，分别有：Advanced Computer Science/Advanced Computer Science with placement, Computing/Computing with placement, Computing & IT Management/Computing & IT Management with placement。

　　其实整体来说，我们可以把卡大计算机信息科学学院下设的专业总共看成三门，专业名称后加上with placement表示，同学可以付费进行7-10个月的实习或者工作。所以，其实进行实习/工作和不进行实习/工作的专业，给同学们提供的课程几乎一样的。但是with placement的专业多读一年，这一年中的7-10个月就是给同学完成placement的。

　　就读有placement的专业的同学，在placement完成之后，再回校进行论文写作和答辩。

　　下面我们分别来看看这六(三)个专业的课程设置：

　　在教学阶段，同学要上五门必修课程和一门选修课程。然后进行placement。在7-10个月的Placement结束之后，同学再返校完成dissertation。

　　这两门专业课程设置完全一样。区别在于，在春季学期结束之后，选择placement的同学就开始进行placement。但要注意的是，工作要同学自己找。学院和工作顾问会帮助同学申请实习或者工作。

　　其实，Computing with placement和Computing提供的课程是一模一样的。Computing with placement也是五门必修课程，一门选修课程。只是可能课程时间安排得不太一样。另外就是placement的差别了。

　　从以上的课程设置可以看出来，其实卡大计算机信息科学学院下设的相关专业之间的课程设置，以及选修必修课程的要求，还是有很大的差别的。而且卡大下设的计算机相关专业还算比较全面，不仅有传统的计算机科学信息专业，比如Advanced Computer Science，也有与管理相结合，并且适合本科非计算机专业的同学的Computing & IT Management和Computing。

　　而对于两门不需要本科计算机专业的专业来说，它们之间的差别在于：Computing着重于如何运用软件解决企业中出现的问题，并且运用重要的计算机语言(比如java和python)来学习编程。而Computing & IT Management的课程中，虽然也会涉及到Computing中的部分内容，但其实课程的重点还是放在了Management上，从必修课程中的Business and IT Management也可以看出点“端倪”。着重于如何运用软件，电脑系统来支持企业运作，来管理IT人员。

　　With Placement

　　其实从上面的专业设置也可以看出来，卡大计算机相关专业的特别之处就在于它的placement。虽然同学们需要自己找实习或者工作，但其实这是一个将春季学期所学的知识应用到实际操作当中的绝佳的机会。同时，这种实习/工作经验也可以为论文写作提供一些帮助。

　　入学要求

　　Computing (with placement)/Computing & IT Management (with placement):

　　1. 本科背景：这两(四)门专业要求申请者的本科专业是非计算机专业;非大学毕业的同学(也就是没有学士学位的同学或者是没有拿到毕业证书的同学)，如果有相关的工作经验的话，校方也会予以考虑;

　　2. 均分要求：平均成绩75分以上;

　　3. 语言成绩：雅思总分6.5，单项不低于6;

　　Advanced Computer Science (with placement)

　　1. 本科背景：要求申请者本科专业是计算机科学或计算机或其它相关专业;

　　2. 均分要求：平均成绩75分以上;

　　3. 语言成绩：雅思总分6.5，单项不低于6;

　　学费信息

　　所有专业的full-time学费都是17,500英镑;

　　with placement的专业需要额外交1512英镑的placement fee。
